Christmas shopping ALL DONE! Except for a few items of fresh food... I hopefully will not need to step foot near a shop (with my children in tow!) With the exception of a Christmas Eve eve midnight trip to the supermarket, coz I hate the crowds!!! (yes, I did say Christmas Eve eve... the day before Christmas Eve!!!)
This party season has my poor old body struggling. I don't think I've eaten a vegetable in about a week. Argh. I love my veggies - I NEED my veggies... but two dinners at Maccas (Wed & Thurs night), a sausage in bread (Tues night), and a chicken curry (Mon night) - I NEED A VEGETABLE!!! I've just made myself a kick-butt salad! A bed of lettuce, carrot sticks, grilled chicken and roast tiny potatoes, all with a tiny smattering of ranch dressing... YUMMY!!! (BTW I didn't eat Maccas tonight - the kids had their FINAL class party, there - so they ate it not me!!)
As I was exiting a shop today, I heard one lady say to another "Yeah - it's just all the drama of Christmas, hey" I've been thinking about that. I think that is really sad. Christmas is sposed to be a time of joy, giving, family, warmth, food and love. Somehow its become a mad dash for the shops (that are chockas FULL of obsessed merchandise grabbing people) looking for that bargain or "the" item of the season, that their kids MUST have, grumpy overworked shop assistants and irratable impatient shoppers. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE gifts, especially buying them and giving them. But its not sposed to be a drama. I'd be a liar if I said that I don't worry that some people are particular and "will they like my gift", but I always come back to my attitude - I believe I'm giving it because I've thought about that person and think they will like it.
I hope your Christmas, is not a drama. But one of careful thought loaded with heaps of love and happiness.
12 MORE DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS!

Aaaaaaaah no way that isnt fair!
I so stuck on so many gifts! Why dont people come with a gift list!
I almost peed myself when I read
"looking for that bargain or "the" item of the season, that their kids MUST have, grumpy overworked shop assistants and irratable impatient shoppers."
I am def one of those overworked shop assistants who works in layby and has lost your MUST HAVE ONLY item your child wants for christmas! And have totaly ruined your christmas! And they are not affried to tell you what a mean person I am!
LOL I OVER IT! WAKE ME up on Christmas DAY
Good for you being done and getting your veggies! I know what you mean about the MUST have gift. My daughter has only asked for one thing~Abu, the monkey from Aladdin~ and they stopped making it in 1992! I went to Ebay and paid $25 for a used one..wow, I must be crazy but it will be worth it on Christmas morning : )
Keep the Spirit !! Happy Holidays.
Ok - rub it in that you are done shopping - LOL! I am close to being done.
Good girl for eating those veggies!
You're done? Wow~!!!!! I'm so jealous. I am miles from being done...
Just about to head off and finish my Christmas shopping today, and have to try NOT to forget to pick up the kids trampoloine from Toyworld BEFORE Christmas!!- keep up the good work with those veggies!!!
Cristina xx
I have def had Dramatic Christmases in years past but I refuse to get that way anymore. You're right, it's about the joy, love and true meaning of Christmas that we need to embrace. Adults are getting donations in their name, kiddos are getting spoiled. Works for me.
HOORAY! Congrats!!!!
That you so much for the christmas card... that was the funniest thing ever... how do I get to do that? I near peed my pants laughing...lol
Wow, Congrats on being done. What a great feeling :)
I was at a retreat recently and we talked about that, about Christmas, its meaning, etc. And the person speaking even said that Christmas is just about celebrating a historical event in time either- that it's about HOW God comes to us right now, how we bear him in our own selves and then birth him to the world.
Amazing talk.
Sometimes I think I need a reminder..thanks for your post.
BTW ...done here too. I don't do very much shopping anymore....
We like having people over for a big meal instead.
Thank you for reminding me that it's about what I want to give them, not about what they want me to give them. If my family had their way, I'd be totally broke buying them the most expensive things you could imagine. I even had my brother - who is 35 and married with 3 kids of his own -ask me for a car stereo last year, as well as some tools to work on his car. Did I mention that he lives an hour from me and not only do I only see him once a year on Christmas, but he never even calls unless he wants something?
Yeah... it's about giving what I want them to have...lol.
Now go eat some veggies!
